Trike (3-wheeled vehicle) power by sikad (padyak/foot pedal). Photo taken 27 June 2007, I think somewhere in Santiago, Agusan del Norte. ZYM
When the trisikads were introduced in Mainit in the late 1980's (or early 1990s), they looked like the ones in the photo... large bikes with side car made of mixed media e.g. ply wood, timber (stick), and metal. When I went home last month, the trisikads are no longer a common sight. They have evolved into a motorized trike (using engines usually used for motor bancas). Multicabs (similar to Mitsubishi L100) are also now abundant which transects the Mainit-Magpayang-Matin-ao route.
